Watch 2-Minutes of the Live-Action Japanese Film SPACE BATTLESHIP YAMATO
This new Japanese film Space Battleship Yamato looks so damn cool! I would love to see this movie on the big screen, but there's still no U.S. released date set. It's opening up in Japan today though.
The film is a big-budget adaptation of the classic 1970's anime series of the same name, which I used to watch as a kid growing up. I loved the huge space battleships in this series, and now to see them brought to life I can't help but get excited. The film was directed by Takashi Yamazaki, who also directed the film, Always - Sunset on Third Street parts 1 and 2.
The story is set in 2220, and the movie will depict the evacuation of 300 million people from Earth to avoid certain death from an expanding black hole. The Yamato, a space battleship, is leading the rescue fleet when it is attacked by an alien force.
I really need to brush up on my Japanese, because I can't understand a single word they are saying, but it still looks awesome! Check out the clip to the film below which aired on a Japanese talk show, and enjoy!
Here's the full trailer for the film in case you missed missed it.
