Viggo Mortenson & Javier Bardem are up for the Lead Role in THE DARK TOWER

Hey gang, I just wanted to quickly let you know that the New York Post is reporting that Viggo Mortenson and Javier Bardem are currently the frontrunners for the lead role of Roland Deschain in Ron Howard's film/TV adaptation of the Stephen King's The Dark Tower series. Bardem is apparently the studios first choice, while Mortenson is a close second. Personally I'd rather see Mortenson in the role.

The Post has nothing to back up their claim, but that's what they're saying, so consider this a rumor for now. They are also reporting that "agents are tripping over themselves to land their clients coveted roles in what promises to be a blockbuster film and television franchise." And why wouldn't they be? This franchise is going to be huge!

The plan in adapting this classic book series is to start everything off with a feature film, from there Howard and writer Akiva Goldsman  will create a bridge to the second feature with a full season of TV episodes! We will then see the second film hit the big screen, and after the sequel is released we will see another season of The Dark Tower on TV. This season will focus on Deschain as a young gunslinger. The storylines will be taken from the prequel comic book series that King was heavily involved with. Then we will get the third and final film which will pick up with a mature Deshain as he completes his journey.

Who would you like to see take on the lead role in this film series?
