Geek Art: Tavis Coburn's Amazing Retro Posters for BAFTA Best Film Noms

Art Avatar by Eli Reyes

We're always trying to find great "Geek Art," but Tavis Coburn's series of retro posters are absolutely spectacular!

We already sent some kudos BAFTA's way, for recognizing Duncan Jones' Moon -- when other awards shows inexplicably gave it the snub -- when they announced this year's winners earlier this week. But now we can thank the the British Academy of Film and Television Arts, for commissioning Coburn to create a series of new posters for each of the five Best Film nominees from 2009, which were Avatar, An Education, The Hurt Locker, Precious, and Up in the Air.

While we're thanking BAFTA, we'd also like to thank our friends at FirstShowing for the find.

The Hurt Locker and Up in the Air posters are supremely authentic looking, and I'll hang up a pic of Cary Mulligan on my wall any day. But is it just me, or does Jake Sully's Avatar look like Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson? Either way, they're all gorgeous.
