24 Feature Film is One Step Closer to Being Made

Movie 24 by Joey Paur

There's been talk of a movie adaptation of the hit TV show 24 for some time now, but now steps are being taken to actually make it happen. FOX has hired scribe Bill Ray to write the script for the feature film version of the story. Ray has written films such as State of Play and Flightplan, and also directed Breach and Shattered Glass

The story that Ray pitched to FOX takes Jack Bauer to Europe. Whatever he said, the movie executives loved, because they hired him to write it.

Kiefer Sutherland is definitely excited to see his long-running TV series made into a feature film, in hopes that it will also become a film franchise. The movies obviously won't be 24 hours long, so it should be interesting to see how they handle the story and time frame.

I've really been enjoying the eighth season of the show and I love the fact that they can take the story to a whole new level for film. It will allow them to go bigger and crazier. The movie is still in the very early stages of development and it's fate still depends on what happens to the TV show. The show still has yet to be picked up for a ninth season.

The feature film would be produced by the TV show's key executive producers, including Sutherland. The TV Series was created by Robert Cochran and Joel Surnow, while exec producer Howard Gordon runs the show through his Real Time Prods. banner.

It should be awesome to see 24 on the big screen, it's always had feature film qualities in the show. I just hope they can adapt it effectively.

What are your thoughts on 24 going to the big screen?
