Tom Cruise is Officially Back for MISSION IMPOSSIBLE 4

Tom Cruise and Paramount Pictures are getting back in business again for the J.J. Abrams produced Mission: Impossible 4. Tom Cruise will once again reprise his role in the franchise as Ethan Hunt, and he'll seve as a producer on the film as well.

Some people may not be surprised by this news, but I kind of am. I was working at Paramount when Tom Cruise was pretty much kicked off the studio lot. There was some bad blood. This all happened after Cruise's Scientology flip out. I wasn't sure if he'd ever be interested in working with them again, but apparently things have been smoothed over.

Screenwriters Josh Applebaum and Andre Nemec are attached to write the script, and they are currently looking for a director. They want to start shooting M:I 4 this summer so they can get a 2011 Memorial Day release date.

Paramount is probably very excited that they are going to get to continue the franchise with Tom Cruise on board. There was a time when the internet was ablaze with rumors of a full Mission: Impossible reboot, well that's obviously not happening.

I really enjoyed M:I 3 and I'm kind of bummed that Abrams won't be directing the fourth film. Hopefully they bring on a decent director with a fun imagination. I think it'd be cool if they brought Taken director Pierre Morel on board.

So what do you think about Cruise being officially in for M:I 4?
