Timur Bekmambetov to Direct THE LAST WITCH HUNTER

Summit Entertainment is looking to find another new film franchise and they think they've found it with witches. They recently made a pre-emptive mid-six figures acquisition of The Last Witch Hunter. Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov is attached to direct the movie. 

The story follows one of the last witch hunters, a breed that keeps the population of witches and warlocks in check. They are about to repopulate in a major way unless he can stop them.

From that brief plot summary it sounds a lot like Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Except is focuses more on the witch and warlock aspect. I assume that it will take place in modern contemporary setting, since there aren't very many witch hunters these days. 

I really have no idea what to expect from this film, but Bekmambetov knows how to direct some pretty cool movies so it will most likely end up being a fun movie to watch.
