Harrison Ford gives Yet Another Useless INDIANA JONES 5 Update

Every couple of months or so, someone from the Indiana Jones camp gives a little tidbit about the fifth installment of the franchise. They throw us some vague bread crumb of information and we kneed that sucker out and make try to make it look like a loaf. Any tiny bit of movement on the project is hollered and yelled at like a kid doing something during Simon Says... when Simon didn't say!

So let's recap what we've heard so far:

*************************RECAP*************************

Despite lackluster reviews and fan outrage, the fourth installment in the Indiana Jones franchise, Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull Crystal Skull raked in $786.6 million worldwide at the box-office with a budget of about $185 million. A couple months after the 2008 release of Crystal Skull, creator George Lucas expressed his desire to do a fifth Jones flick, admitting director Steven Spielberg wasn't "enthusiastic" about the last one.

He’s trying to drag it back to the way they were, I’m trying to push it to a whole different place. So, still we have a sort of tension. This recent one came out of that. It’s kind of a hybrid of our own two ideas.

Holler, yell, tear your hair out. Then last June Spielberg announced, that HE had cracked the story for Indiana Jones 5. Score one for the classic Indy we all know and love.

But a couple of days afterwards, producer Frank Marshall confirmed and expressed his excitement, but cautioned, "Until there’s a script, nothing’s definite. I haven’t heard the idea."

Then back in September, Indiana Jones himself, actor Harrison Ford, said that he, Lucas and Spielberg have "agreed on what the fifth adventure will concern, and George is actively at work."

In January of this year, it seemed like things were really moving forward, with Ford expressing details of what he wants the script to entail, that the fifth film could "deepen the relationship between he and his son [Mutt, played by Shia LaBeouf] and play on that relationship."

*************************END RECAP*************************

Now the latest bit of news regarding Indiana Jones 5 actually seems to regress from the information previously given!!!

Ford told BBC:

Steven [Spielberg] and George [Lucas] and I are sort of agreed on a germ of an idea and we're seeing what comes of it.

The next time I hear about Indiana Jones, it better be a full on plague, or else it's not worth mentioning. Don't get me wrong, I love the original trilogy of films, and even though I think Crystal Skull should register as a sex-offender, I'll probably go see part 5 if it does get made.

But then Ford has to explain how the collaborative process works...

The process works like this. We come to some basic agreement and then George goes away for a long time and works on it. Then Steven and I get it in some form, some embryonic form. Then if we like it we start working with George on it and at some point down the line it's ready and we do it.

He might as well have told the reporter about the birds and the bees at that point. I guess we'll see you for another Indiana Jones update anytime now. Next time Lucas will explain how he worked Indiana Jones into the Clone Wars. Or the info will regress again, and Ford won't know anything about Indiana Jones 5.
