Lionsgate has brought on John Singleton to direct the Shawn Christensen-scripted thriller, Abduction. Twilight's Taylor Lautner signed on to star in the film not too long ago, and since production is scheduled to begin shooting in July in Pitsburgh, it's confirmed that this will be Lautner's next movie project. He will shoot Abduction before he ends up filming the last two installments of the Twilight franchise.
The script for this film caused a nice little bidding war earlier in the year, and Lionsgate won the war by paying a cool $1 million bucks. Lautner will play a teen who discovers his own picture on a missing persons website and finds out the parents who raised him aren't his real folks. This triggers a series of events that leaves him running for his life.
The movie sounds like it could be a great edge-of-your-seat thriller. Just not sure if Lautner's got the acting chops to pull it off. I guess we'll find out soon enough.
