Yep, it's another unnecessary remake. For some reason New Line/Warner Bros. feels they need to remake the 1980 comedy Private Benjamin with Anna Faris attached to star. The original film starred Goldie Hawn as a spoiled woman who joins the Army after her husband dies while having sex on their wedding night. The original film received three Oscar nominations including best actress for Hawn, supporting actress for Eileen Brennan and original screenplay.
The remake will be set in contemporary times with modern wars as the backdrop. Insiders say the studio doesn’t want to poke fun at the men and women in the service or take political potshots, but rather focus on the empowerment elements and build on the fish-out-of-water comedy.
The new film will be written by Amy Talkington, and Mark Gordon will produce. Don't expect any Oscar nominations for this remake.
This definitely sounds like a film I wont want to see. Come on Hollywood! Get your act together! No more remakes! The world wants new and original stories, not rehashed crap.
