I assume you’ve all seen the Scream franchise by now, if not I’m about to ruin a big plot point for you. Randy was one of my favorite characters in the Scream franchise, the character was played by Jamie Kennedy, and was killed in Scream 2, which pissed me off. He was such a great movie geek character. They kind of brought him back in Scream 3 through a video, and now it looks like there’s a chance he will be back for Scream 4, and I have no idea how they are going to pull that off.
Chud is reporting that sources close to the production say that producers of the next Scream film are currently talking to Kennedy about coming back for part 4. Unfortunately no one will say how. Will he be brought back from the dead, will he be a zombie or vampire? Chud suggests that maybe Randy had a twin brother? Or will Kennedy actually play himself in the movie? They could take it in so many different directions, but to do it without being utterly stupid is going to be a very hard task. They’ve got to be able to pull it off in a smart way.
Then there’s always the possibility that he won’t appear in the movie at all, and they are just playing around with some possible ideas. Fact of the matter is, I think the filmmakers are going to do all they can to get the whole gang back together again.
I hope they do find a way to bring Randy back in the story, he’s everyone’s favorite character, so why the hell not? The original screenwriter Kevin Williamson is writing the script, the original director Wes Craven will direct once more, and the original main cast members are returning. I have a feeling it's going to be a big hit and a fun horror film, and I'm looking forward to seeing it.
What are your thoughts on the return of Randy?
