Joss Whedon in Final Negotiations to Direct THE AVENGERS

It looks like it’s actually really going to happen. Joss Whedon is going to end up directing Marvel’s The Avengers. The rumor for this broke at the beginning of the month, then LA Times confirmed that he’s met with Marvel and was on a short list of directors to take on the film project. Now according to Deadline Whedon is in final negotiations, and when ever it progresses to final negotiations it pretty much comes down to approving and signing the final paperwork.

So I guess we can expect to hear an official announcement in the near future that Joss Whedon will be directing The Avengers. There’s a lot of mixed feelings out there about this news. Some fans are excited to see Whedon take on The Avengers film, others think that he doesn’t have what it takes. I think he’s gonna bring something great to film, I’m excited that he’s going to direct the movie. The guy has developed some great TV series, and made a little sci-fi film called Serenity which I thought was great. If your worried because he comes from more of a TV background just remember, J.J. Abrams started in TV with a little chick show called Falicity, now look what he’s done, I think Whedon has that kind of talent and potential, and I’m looking forward to seeing what he is going to do with The Avengers.

The guy must have a fantastic vision for the movie otherwise Marvel wouldn’t be bringing him on board. Jon Favreau is also a producer on The Avengers film which means that he's probably backing this decision as well and has a say in who directs the film. Make no mistake, Whedon has a vision that Marvel likes, and I would think Marvel knows what it's doing.

The Avengers will bring together Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, and the Hulk in a story that has yet to be reveled.

What do you think about Joss Whedon directing The Avengers now that it looks like he’s actually going to direct it?
