BOND 23 Is Delayed Indefinitely

Movie James Bond by Joey Paur

Oh no! This isn’t good. James Bond producers Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli of EON Productions have announced that the production on the next installment of the James Bond franchise, Bond 23, which was scheduled to be released in late 2011 early 2012 has been suspended. Here is the official statement that the two producers made:

Due to the continuing uncertainty surrounding the future of MGM and the failure to close a sale of the studio, we have suspended development on BOND 23 indefinitely. We do not know when development will resume and do not have a date for the release of BOND 23.

Sam Mendez was set to direct the film with Daniel Craig reprising his role as 007. Unfortunately things aren’t really working out right now with MGM. The film isn’t dead, it will eventually happen, they just need a solid backer to back the production. So until this MGM bankruptcy thing is taken care of, the franchise isn’t going to move forward. I guess we’ll find out what will happen in the next month or two.

I really hope this MGM bankruptcy gets settled soon so they can move forward with James Bond and The Hobbit.
