Timur Bekmambetov to Direct RED ASPHALT Next?

Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov is a wanted man in Hollywood, but he has yet to choose what his next film project will be as a director. There a few films that he’s been circling over the last couple years such as an update of Moby Dick and more recently a film called The Last Witch Hunter. He’s also attached himself as a producer to several projects that include an alien invasion film, The Darkest Hour, and the supernatural historical film Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter. But as of right now, he's not committed to direct anything.

But a new film project has emerged that is a strong contender to become his next directing gig. The film is called Red Asphalt, and Lionsgate acquired a pitch for the film last year and brought on board Timur to direct it, but that has yet to be seen. Andrew Baldwin is currently writing the script.

Red Asphalt is described by insiders as an edgy 3-D thriller. Its plot details are being kept in the dark, but Timur, who's also attached to produce, is keen on the film, and the project is gaining some production speed at Lionsgate.

Timur has made some very fun movies which also include Russian films Day Watch and Night Watch. Whatever he ends up doing next, I’m sure it will be a fun, exciting, action packed popcorn flick.
