The Wachowski's looking to make a "Hard R" Gay Love U.S.-Iraqi Film

Movie by Joey Paur

The Wachowski siblings who directed films such as The Matrix and Speed Racer are currently shopping around a new dramatic script that focuses on a "hard R" homosexual relationship between a U.S. soldier and an Iraqi. It's described as "a cinema verite-style treatment that begins in the near future and then spans back over years that include the current war in Iraq."

Are you surprised? I can see some people being surprised by this news, but this isn't the first time the colorful directing duo has tackled this kind of subject matter. The directed the 1996 film Bound, which was a heist film with a lesbian romance. I'm sure the U.S. soldier and Iraqi gay relationship aspect of the new film is going to turn some heads though. They've already done some screen tests for the film as well.

The script for the film is complete and it's the next film they want to direct. This would be the first movie they've directed since Speed Racer.

What do you think about this new project they want to develop?
