Will Nathan Fillion be Playing ANT-MAN!?
As much as I would love to believe that Nathan Fillion will be playing Ant-Man in Edgar Wright's Ant-Man film for Marvel, I am treating this as a rumor until we receive officially confirmation.
But yes, word on the street is Nathan Fillion will play Henry Pym a.k.a. Ant-Man in Marvel's comic book film adaptation. The new surfaced over on Marvelous News while doing some research on actor Kevin Pennington and what role he will play in the Marvel universe. Anyway, they came across some much more interesting news.
Nathan Fillion is pretty much locked to be Henry Pym [Ant-Man], and should be announced before any other new additions to the cast (think around Comic Con).
It's hard not to get excited about this news! But, who knows if it's really even true? Perhaps the director of the film Edgar Wright knows what's going on. The Playlist contacted the director regaurding the rumor and he told them, this was all news to him. But even if it was true would he go out and tell everyone, and spoil the big Comic-Con surprise? Of course not. So I'm still keeping the hope alive.
Even if this news isn't true, we all know Fillion deserves a shot to play a big character in one of these many comic book films that are being developed. Hopefully one day his time will come.
If he does end up playing Ant-Man he'd be perfect for the part! He is great at balancing the art of humor and strength. And who know's... with Whedon directing The Avengers maybe he will play a hand in pulling in his old pal.
As for Pennington, who I brought up earlier, Marvelous' News explains he "will be a S.H.I.E.L.D. agent, but also a fan favorite character from the comics" but "the origin may be changed to fit in the movie, and [this character] may never have been in S.H.I.E.L.D. or Avengers in the comics."
