Happy 30th Birthday EMPIRE STRIKES BACK!
30 years ago today The Empire Strikes Back opened up in theaters across the world to become everyone's favorite chapter in the Star Wars trilogy.
The Empire Strike Back is definitely my favorite chapter in the Star Wars saga. I think it's amazing that after 30 years of having watched this movie well over a hundred times in my life I never get tired of it. It continues to entertain me and millions of other fans in the world! This is one of those movies I was happy to sit down with and share with my own kids, who are all now big fans of Star Wars as well.
Unfortunately I never got to see the movie on the big screen when it was first released in theaters because I was only two years old when it came out. I did however get to see it on the big screen when it was re-released at the famous Chinese theater in Hollywood, and that was quite an awesome experience! But I'm sure nothing lives up to the original experience.
My dad told me that when he and my mom were standing in line to watch the movie some jackass drove by in his car and yelled out of the car window... "Darth Vader is Lukes dad!" and spoiling the big reveal in film for everyone in line. Of course everyone was pissed off at the guy, and rightly so!
Well, it being the 30th anniversary of Empire Strikes Back, I thought it would be appropriate to share with you an original trailer from the film, as well as an old school making of documentary on the movie.
If you want... In the rant back section below share your thoughts and experiences with Empire Strikes Back.
This trailer has recently made it's way around the internet, but I waiting until today to post it. This Emipre trailer features a voice-over narration by Harrison Ford as Harrison Ford, not as Han Solo. It's very entertaining listening to him describe to the audience what it is they will see in The Empire Strikes Back. It's like he's so uncomfortably energetic.
Here is a cool little 5 part original documentary on the making of the film narrated by Mark Hamill that you may or may not have seen already. But it's pretty interesting to watch.
