Legendary Pictures Buys Pitch for New Sci-Fi Film PACIFIC RIM

Legendary Pictures has paid a high-six figures for the rights to develop a movie pitch into a full length feature film. The film is a sci-fi story called Pacific Rim, and it was written by Travis Beacham, the original screenwriter for The Clash of the Titans. I wasn't a big fan of the Clash of the Titans remake, but I heard the script was incredibly strong before it was butchered.

Pacific Rim is set in a future in which malevolent creatures threaten the earth, the planet must band together and use highly advanced technology to eradicate the growing menace.

The film deal was made based on a detailed 25-page story treatment that was written by Beacham, and the film will be set up and distributed by Warner Bros. which will make this film a big tent pole event.

The concept of the story really isn't any thing we haven't seen before, but we still don't know what the details are behind the the basic story explanation that we have. Maybe it will have a Halo and Gears of War type feel to it.
