Legendary Pictures Bringing Sci-fi Animated Short TECHNOTISE to the Big Screen
Legendary Pictures went out on a spending spree recently and bought the rights to a serbian animated short film called Technotise: Edit and I. A fake animated trailer for the potential film was released online back in February, and it helped spark discussions on developing a live action-version. Legendary Pictures ended up buying a movie pitch from Laeta Kalogridis who wrote Shutter Island and also worked on Avatar. Kalogridis will write the screenplay for the film. They paid her a good seven figures.
The movie sounds and looks like it could be awesome. The story for the film is set in Belgrade in the year 2074, and it centers on a failing art student who decides to get a chip implant to circumvent studying but gets more than she bargained for.
The movie will be produced by Rea Sanchini, who worked with James Cameron on Solaris, Titanic and Strange Days. Thomas Tull and Jon Jashni of Legendary Pictures will also be producers on the sci-fi film.
