LOGAN'S RUN to be written by '28 Days Later' and 'Sunshine' Scribe

Movie Logan's Run by Joey Paur

The writer behind the classic Danny Boyle directed movies Sunshine and 28 Days Later, Alex Garland is currently in negotiations with Warner Bros. to write the screenplay for their upcoming remake of Logan's Run.

Warner Bros. has been trying to get the film production off the ground for some time now, and last month they started talking with commercial director and Ridley Scott protege Carl Rinsch to develop the movie for them. Rinsch is an extremely talented director with a fun imagination, and I am looking forward to seeing his first feature film project.

This new Logan's Run film will be more of an adaption of the 1967 novel by William F. Nolan and George Clayton Johnson, and not a direct remake of the 1976 film that starred starring Michael York, Jenny Agutter and Farrah Fawcett. I think it's good they are turning to the source material for this film.

Here is the official description from the novel.

It's the 23rd Century and at age 21... your life is over! Logan-6 has been trained to kill; born and bred from conception to be the best of the best. But his time is short and before his life ends he's got one final mission: Find and destroy Sanctuary, a fabled haven for those that chose to defy the system. But when Logan meets and falls in love with Jessica, he begins to question the very system he swore to protect and soon they're both running for their lives. When Last Day comes, will you lie down and die... or run!

I enjoyed the first film but it looks like Warner Bros. is putting together a talented team of people to bring this story back to life so I can't help but be a little excited to see what they envision for the film.
