Don Cheadle and Frida Pinto Offered Roles in PLANET OF THE APES: RISE OF THE APES
According to Bloody-Disgusting both Don Cheadle (Iron Man 2) and Frida Pinto (Slumdog Millionaire) have been offered roles in 20th Century Fox's unnecessary prequel to Planet of the Apes. If this intel is real, and the two actors accept the offers made to them they will join James Franco whose already been cast in the lead role.
Planet of the Apes: Rise of the Apes is being directed Rupert Wyatt, and it will tell the origin story of how Planet of the Apes became the planet of the apes. The story is set in present day San Francisco and deals with the aftermath of man's experiments with genetic engineering that lead to the development of intelligence in apes and the onset of a war for supremacy. Franco will play a scientist who becomes a crucial figure in the war between humans and apes.
Cheadle, Pinto, and Franco are all pretty talented actors, which makes me wonder why in the hell they would be involved with a film like this. There have got to be better film projects and roles out there for them. But if they're just doing it just for the fun, then I can't argue with that. Regardless of how much we may not like the idea of a prequel to Planet of the Apes, it will probably end up being fun to make for the people involved.
Fox is looking to release the film June 24, 2011. What are your thoughts on Cheadle and Frida possibly being cast in Ride of the Apes?
