Marvel to Start Making Short Live-Action Films

Movie MarvelShort Film by Joey Paur

Marvel Entertainment has been doing some great things with their comic book characters recently. I've enjoyed everything they've put out so far and I'm looking forward to seeing the upcoming films Thor, Captain America and The Avengers. Marvel also has a ton of secondary characters that they hope to get up on the big screen. Disney and Marvel have been talking about these secondary characters since they first joined forces. We've heard everything from low-budget feature films, to live-action and animated TV series. Now there's a new idea on how they plan to introduce some of these lesser known comic book characters... short films.

Our friends at Latino Review got the scoop from an inside source who says the films will be around 10 minutes long and they will show in front of their feature length movies. The short will introduce secondary characters like Black Panther, Luke Cage, Dr. Strange, etc.

Making Marvel Short films is a great way to expose lesser known comic characters to the masses at very little risk to the studio. They make a short film and show it before one of their big tent pole films like Thor or Captain America. Much like Pixar does with their animated shorts. This will help the studio find out from the audience reaction if making a feature film for that character will be worth it to them.

There's no word on what movie they will start showing these shorts in front of yet, or what actual characters they will for sure introduce. But it's definitely a smart movie, and something fans of Marvel should get excited about.

What do you all think about Marvel Movie Shorts?
