Nathan Fillion, Eva Longoria Possibly Joining THE AVENGERS

The rumor that Nathan Fillion and Eva Longoria have joined the cast of Joss Whedon’s The Avengers continues to pick up steam. Should the rumors be true, Fillion, a long time Whedon collaborator, would portray Dr. Henry Pym, aka Ant Man, and Longoria would play his wife, Janet Van Dyne, aka The Wasp. Supposedly the two of them would show up as S.H.I.E.L.D. scientists before revealing their true, super powered nature.

As any nerd knows, Marvel Studios-produced films typical go the route of the Ultimate series of comics. Pym and Van Dyne have a fairly complex, tortured relationship in those books that is anything but lighthearted (see The Ultimates 1 and 2) that should make things interesting, provided it gets enough screen time.
