Let The Right One In Director Sets up his Next Film with Gary Oldman

Movie Gary Oldman by Joey Paur

The director of the original Let The Right One In film, Tomas Alfredson,  has locked down his next film project. The movie is called Tinker Tailor, Soldier, Spy. The film is currently casting and as of right now only one actor is set to star in the film, that actor is none other than Gary Oldman. There are a few other great actors though that are in negotiations. Those actors include Colin Firth (A Single Man), Michael Fassbender (Inglourious Basterds)and David Thewlis (Harry Potter). This my friends could end up being a very impressive cast for this movie.

The movie is based on a novel by John Le Carré and its being adapted into script form by by Peter Morgan. This is the first in a trilogy of novels the other two books are called The Honourable Schoolboy and Smiley’s People.

The story follows a retired intelligence agent named George Smiley (Gary Oldman) whose been called back to serve when a high-ranking member of MI6 is suspected of being a Soviet mole. It looks like the film will be a period piece.

Here is the description of the book.

British Secret Service Agent George Smiley, has a world-class problem. He has discovered a mole--a Soviet double agent who has managed to burrow his way up to the highest level of British Intelligence. Under the direction of Karla, Smiley's equivelent in the Soviet Union, the agent has already blown some of the most vital secret operations and most productive networks. Now-how can Smiley use a lifetime's worth of espionage skills to ferret out a spy who posseses them as well?

If you saw Let the Right One In, then you know that Alfredson is a solid talented director, and I'm interested to see what he does with this movie.
