Great Image from THOR of Odin, Thor and Loki! 3D Confirmed

Hey Gang! Here's a great looking new image from Kenneth Branagh's new film Thor! The photo gives us a look at the God's of Thor which include Odin, Thor, and Loki! All of which look great in their costumes.

It is also confirmed that Thor will be released in 3D, and if you're going to Comic-Con you will get a chance to see some exclusive footage from the film in 3D. The Marvel panel is on Saturday July 24th in Hall H.

Kenneth Branagh had this to say:

We came to feel that in our case 3-D could be the very good friend of story and character for a different kind of experience," Branagh said, taking a break from post-production. The filmmaker said the terminology of the 3-D process initially made him cringe  -- at first, it was "math and physics and way over my head.

It's another draft of the story that can reveal itself in a different way. I had a healthy degree of skepticism up front ... I've become somebody extremely excited about working with possibilities of doing it this way.

In other words the studio told him the movie would make a lot more money if they released Thor in 3D. The movie was not shot in 3D, so it will have to go through the cheap conversion process, something I'm not very excited about. I guess we'll see how good of a conversion it will be at Comic-Con. But Branagh says they are doing a "careful conversion."

A pretty careful conversation is what we've been having for quite some time about what we know has to be the most sensible decision: Is it led by story? Can this offer a different type of experience and exploit what we have in the story? It absolutely can ... we travel very long distances in the movie and the opportunity to export and exploit the journey of the hero is really offered up as a great potential enhancement here.

I just don't buy the whole 3D makes a story better bit. If the story is good the story is good, 3D doesn't effect the story. It's just a tool used to get people to pay the extra money to see the movie. Make sure you head on over to LA Times to read the full article. It goes on to talk about how Captain America director Joe Johnston said his test shoots in 3D were a nightmare.

Paramount Pictures and Marvel Entertainment present the epic adventure, Thor, which spans the Marvel Universe from present day Earth to the realm of Asgard. At the center of the story is the mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. Thor is cast down to Earth by his father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) and is forced to live among humans. A beautiful young scientist, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), has a profound effect on Thor, as she ultimately becomes his first love. It’s while here on Earth that Thor learns what it takes to be a true hero when the most dangerous villain of his world sends the darkest forces of Asgard to invade Earth.

Thor stars Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman, Tom Hiddleston, Anthony Hopkins, Rene Russo, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Ray Stevenson, Josh Dallas, Tadanobu Asano, Idris Elba, Clark Gregg, Colm Feore.

It should be cool to see who of these actors show up at Comic-Con this year, and I seriously can't wait to see the Thor footage!

Thor is set to be released in theaters on May 6th,2011

What do you all think about about the image above and the fact that it will be released in 3D?
