Review: INCEPTION will Blow Your Mind into Pieces!

I’ve been extremely excited for Christopher Nolan’s Inception since I first heard it was getting made. The story for the film was shrouded in a cloak of mystery for a long time, and even everything that was revealed on the film didn’t give us all the details on the story Nolan wanted to tell. I was extremely excited to see what Nolan had in store for us with his next film, and I’m extremely happy to report that Nolan’s Inception does not disappoint.

Christopher Nolan is a mad genius! He’s created one the of the most original films I’ve seen in a long ass time. Not only is the movie based on an original concept, but it was an incredibly fantastic film that in my mind was executed perfectly. Inception blew me away in every way a movie can, and it’s definitely my favorite movie of the year so far. I’m so glad this movie went above and beyond what my expectations were. Not since The Matrix have I seen such a fantastic action film that actually had some substance behind it.

This movie has so many different and interesting complex layers to it, all of which kept me glued to the insane madness that was unfolding before my eyes on the big screen. This film actually forces the audience to think. It’s so thought provoking, I believe it must be seen multiple times to be able to catch everything that’s actually going on in the story. I really want to see this movie again. Most movies these days are just a lot of eye candy, with no real depth or substance, they don’t force the audience to think these days. Inception has it all though, it’s got the eye candy and the brains. The audience really has to open their minds to a film like this, and except all of the rules that have been laid out for us. It’s not a confusing movie, but you really have to be paying attention.

The story follows a man by the name of Dom Cobb who has a particular set of skills, in which he and his team can enter into the minds of people and extract information from their subconsciousness while in a dream state. This rare ability has made Cobb a coveted player in a treacherous new world of corporate espionage, but it has also made him an international fugitive, and cost him everything he’s ever loved. The film focuses on one last job that could give him his life back, but to get it he has to accomplish the impossible... inception. Instead of the stealing information from the mind, Cobb and his team have to plant information in the mind on an individual. No matter how much they plan for the inception, nothing can prepare them for what they eventually have to face in the film.

That’s a very basic plot line, going any deeper into the plot will spoil some of the films details that aren’t revealed in any of the trailers or film clips that have been released. A lot of these details took me by complete surprise and I want to leave that for you to enjoy.

I don’t want to get into any spoilerish details on the film, but I just want to quickly touch on one of my favorite scenes, which was a great little action sequence with Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s character. You saw a little bit of this scene in the trailer where Gordon-Levitt was fighting someone in a hallway and seemed to be defying gravity. This full scene was absolutely incredible! At the end of it the audience was going crazy! It was extremely fun, and when you see it in the context with the rest of the film, and what is going on, it’s even more awesome!

The characters that Nolan created for in this story are incredible as well. Each one of them had a certain skill set to help pull off a job. The personalities of these characters also mirrors what their skills are. These are very detailed characters that you come to know and love as you are watching the movie. The relationships and interactions these character all have with each other were meticulously forged. Leonardo Di Caprio, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Tom Hardy, Ellen Page, and Marion Cotillard all gave some of the best performances of their careers. There was not a single weak performance in this movie.

As for the films ending... I won’t ruin it for you, but I will tell you that I thought is was a perfect ending to a fantastic film.

This movie proves that Christopher Nolan is one of the most brilliant filmmakers working in Hollywood right now. When I see an amazing movie like Inception I can’t help but wonder why Hollywood studios keep hiring some of these hack directors out there to keep making these crappy films that Hollywood keeps spitting out. They need to go out and find more talented filmmakers, that hve the ability to come up with original smart story ideas.

Inception was an exhilarating epic film that you’re gonna love! You have to go out and see this movie. It’s seriously the best movie of the year so far, and it has to be experienced on the big screen. Inception is a movie that is sure to blow your mind!
