Electronic Arts trademarked the name “Darkspore” a few months ago. Yesterday, the company revealed that the name was for what everyone expected – a follow-up to 2008’s Spore.
The Maxis-developed title takes Spore’s Creature Creator, which was undoubtedly the most praised part of the game, and drops it into a loot-based RPG. In the game, players will utilize a genetically upgradable army (body parts and armor serve as the game’s loot) of their own design to do battle against a race of creatures called Darkspore.
According to EA’s official announcement, Darkspore will feature “a four-player co-operative and full single-player campaign, as well as intense multiplayer battles.” There will also be multiple classes and hero types along with a “rich fiction.”
The first teaser trailer for the game is embedded below.
