Comic-Con 2010: SMALLVILLE Panel Footage and Details

TV SmallvilleComic-Con by Joey Paur

The last panel we attended Comic-Con 2010 was for Smallville, which was celebrating it's tenth and final season! I've been a pretty solid fan of Smallville throughout the years, and I've really been enjoying the last few seasons, but as a fan I feel it's time for Smallville to come to a close, and it looks like it's going to be a great final season!

They started the panel right off with showing us some awesome footage, which started out with season 1 of Smallville, and it worked it's way up through all the seasons of the show, finally coming to the footage from the upcoming 10th and final season.

Here is a description of that footage we saw:

Lois have a voice over saying, "I'm the last to know", and we see her looking into a box contianing the full Superman suit Martha gave Clark. We cut to Carter Hall/Hawkman in a desert setting, saying, "I guess you never know what fate has planned for you," and Lois also is in this scene.

Cut to Tess Mercer waking up in Cadmus Labs, and sees in a reflection that she is horribly disfigured on one side of her face. She meets a young boy there who shows her adult bodies in fluid filled tanks. When Tess asks the boy who they are, he says, 'My brothers."

We then see some great new footage of Clark walking up to Jonathan Kent on the Kent Farm. Jonathan tells Clark, "Something very dark is coming. And you're going to be tested."

The trailer ends a montage of shots which includes Chloe holding Dr. Fate's helmet, and a voice over of Jonathan Kent saying, "You're going to be the greatest hero the world has ever seen," The clip then cuts to Lois saying, "Superman." The final shots show Clark apparently flying straight up holding the Daily Planet globe in his hands.

Yes! It was pretty incredible! there is a pretty bad bootleg of this footage online that you can watch below if you want, but I don't think it gives it any justice.

The Panel also reveled that Blue Beetle and Booster Gold will be on this season of Smallville.

Cassidy Freeman, Erica Durance, Justin Hartley, and Tom Welling came out on stage, along with the producers.

It was confirmed that Darkseid is this year's villain, but the character will be a bit different from the comics however, to fit in with this world better.

The Superman costume that Welling will wear in the season is a slightly altered version of the one we saw in the film Superman Returns.

Yes, Welling will wear the Superman costume!

The panel is really playing up the idea of Clark finally becoming the epic classic hero we know from comics, and it looks like that will actually happen during the season, not just at the very end!

As for the big question of Michael Rosenbaum returning to the series as Lex Luthur... "The Door is Wide Open." However it is being reported by MovieWeb that Tom Welling said the following, "It's imperative that Lex return for the climax of the series." I hope that means Rosenbaum will be back!

You wont be seeing Wonder Woman or Batman in the season though.
