Robert Rodriquez In Negotiations to Direct DEADPOOL Movie

It was reported a few months ago that Fox has approached Robert Rodriquez to direct the upcoming Deadpool movie. Rodriquez himself admits that Fox sent him an early draft of the script to read to help him make up his mind, but at the time he still hadn't decided if he wanted to do it or not, even though he liked it.

Now it looks like Rodriquez is currently in negotiations with Fox to direct the film, but no official deal has been made yet. The LA Times reports that both "sides need to agree on a number of key points, but it's moved beyond the casual discussion stage and into the more substantive realm of deal points."

So if both sides can come to an agreement then Rodriquez will be directing Ryan Reynolds in the Deadpool spin-off film! I would love to see what Rodriquez would do with this Marvel character, and I'm excited that there is now a solid chance he could end up making the film. He's got what it takes to combine the crazy violence with good comedy.

Rodriquez recently completed filming Machete, and will now move on to directing Spy Kids 4 for some reason. Deadpool would be a great project for him to get started on after Spy Kids.

Are you interested in Rodriquez directing Deadpool for Fox?
