Aaron Johnson to play Cyclops in X-MEN: FIRST CLASS?

Once we heard that Aaron Johnson was talking to director Matthew Vaughn and James McAvoy word began to spread that there was a possibility that Johnson would take on a role in X-Men: First Class. It was announced shortly after this little meeting that they had cast McAvoy in the role of Charles Xavier aka Professor X.

I speculated at the time that if Johnson ended up taking any role in the film it would be the character Cyclops. He's got the look, build and acting abilities to pull off playing that character very well. After Kick-Ass he also gained a nice little fan base.

Now we have word from an inside source at AICN that Vaughn has actually went ahead and cast Kick-Ass star Aaron Johnson as the young Cyclops in X-Men: First Class. The source say's that Johnson is "one hundred percent locked at this point."

I guess we'll eventually find out if this casting scoop is true or not within the next week, if not I'm sure we'll get all of the details there is to reveal about this movie at Comic-Con later this month. I wouldn't doubt Johnson being cast as Cyclops though, it makes sense.

X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga.  Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

What do you all think about the possibility of Johnson taking on the role of Cyclops?
