John Landis to Produce Superhero Project called CHRONICLES

Director John Landis has taken a spec script written by his son Max Landis to Twentieth Century Fox to try and get it developed into a feature film. Landis and the studio are currently in negotiations, and first time feature film director Josh Trank is attached to direct the project. The film is called Chronicles.

It's gotta be kind of hard to sell a project to a studio with a first time director attached, but the story falls in line with the superhero properties that are currently the fad in Hollywood right now.

The story focuses on the lives of three Portland teens that become exposed to a mysterious substance in the woods, and, as a result, begin to develop incredible powers. They work together to hone their skills for fun, until personal and family problems begin to turn them against one another.

The idea for the film is being pitched as a documentary-style type film, where the story will be told with a hand-held camera. This is the same style that was use in both Cloverfield and Paranormal Activity.

Trank directed a web-series called Killpoint back in 2007, and he was the editor on the film Big Fan. It's awesome that he was able to land the gig. But John Landis is the big name shepherding this film project. Landis brought us films such as Animal House, The Blues Brothers, Three Amigos and a ton of other great films!

What are your thoughts on the idea behind Chronicles?
