LINEAGE II's Addictiveness Inspires Lawsuit Against NCSoft

Craig Smallwood, a disgruntled video game addict from Hawaii, has filed a lawsuit against NCSoft over the "addictive nature" of their games. Between 2004-2009, the plantiff claims to have spent nearly 20,000 hours playing the company's popular MMORPG, Lineage 2. Wired Magazine pulled a quote from the official legal document mentioning that Smallwood was "unable to function independently in usual daily activities such as getting up, getting dressed, bathing or communicating with family and friends" due to the game.

NCSoft is apparently at fault because they didn't warn potential customers about the "dangerous and defective" aspects of their game and instruct them on the "safe and proper" method of playing it. In a surprising move, U.S. District Judge Alan Kay didn't immediately laugh the case out of court. He found merit in a few of Smallwood's claims and didn't dismiss his suit altogether.

Should Smallwood earn the "unspecified damages" he is seeking, I fully plan on suing both JIF and Smuckers for what PB&J sandwiches have done to my wasteline. If I'd at least known that I wasn't ready for that jelly, I'd be much better off.
