Warner Bros. to Develop David Goyer's Sci-Fi Trilogy HEAVEN'S SHADOW
Screenwriter David Goyer (Batman Begins, The Dark Knight) is currently writing a new sci-fi novel trilogy called Heaven's Shadow, and Warner Bros. has already picked it up to adapt it into a feature film. He is set to produce the film through his Phantom Four production company.
The trilogy begins when an object is discovered heading for earth. Initial panic gives way to a competition between governments to be first to intercept what they believe is a breakaway meteor. What the astronauts discover leads to an encounter with alien forces that are a threat to humanity.
This is the first novel that Goyer has written, and it will be published July of 2011. The other two books in the trilogy will be called Heaven’s War and Heaven’s Fall, which will be released in subsequent summers. Warner Bros. has preemptively purchased the film rights and is eyeing the property as a potential franchise.
David Goyer is a great screenwriter with some great ideas, but I think he's a mediocre director, with films like Blade: Trinity and The Unborn under his directing belt. Goyer is currently finishing up the new Superman script Warner Bros.
