Sylvester McCoy to Join THE HOBBIT possibly as Radagast the Brown

Finally some Hobbit movie news actually worth posting! Regardless of where the movie currently stands, Peter Jackson and his crew are still prepping up for production, and we know that Jackson has recently gone on a little casting tour auditioning actors for certain roles in the film.

One of these actors has spoken out and revealed that he's currently in negotiations to join the film project. this is a scottish actor named Sylvester McCoy (Doctor Who) and he told the Argyllshire Standard the following,

Mr McCoy told the Standard that contrary to widespread internet rumours, he's not vying for the role of Bilbo in The Hobbit (due to start filming next year) - but is one of two actors being considered for one of the wizard parts.

"I am being cast in The Hobbit," he said. "We're currently in negotiations - there are two of us under consideration. It's not the Bilbo role, but could be bigger."

So he's being considered for one of the Wizard parts. We know that Ian McKellen will most likely return to the role of Gandalf, so who is this other wizard character? I have to agree with TheOneRig.net that speculates the role is for the character Radagast the Brown.

Radagast the Brown is a fictional character in J. R. R. Tolkien's Middle-earth legendarium. He is one of the Istari or Wizards who were sent by the angelic Valar to aid the Elves and Men of Middle-earth in their struggle against the Dark Lord Sauron. Radagast appears in The Lord of the Rings and Unfinished Tales, and is mentioned in The Hobbit and The Silmarillion.

It's being reported that this character will play a big role in the two Hobbit films. What do you all think about Sylvester McCoy possibly taking on the role of Radagast the Brown?
