Microsoft to Raise Xbox Live Gold Subscription Prices

Games Microsoft by Wejo

In a move sure to provoke the wrath of even the most faithful Xbox fans, Microsoft has announced that they'll soon been raising the price of Xbox Live subscriptions.

According to Microsoft's Major Nelson, begining November 1 a one month subscription will be $9.99 (up from $7.99), three month subscriptions will be $24.99 (up from $19.99) and a full year subscription will set you back $59.99 (up from $49.99). Want an extra year at the current prices? If so, you'll be happy to know that purchasing a card between now and November 1 will lock you into those for another year.

The company's continual addition of "more content and entertainment" was the only reason given for the increase. So far, the fan reaction has been suprisingly tolerable but that will likely change as the day progresses. I fully expect at least 506 petitions to be uploaded to PetitionOnline.com within the next couple of hours.
