James Cameron's TRUE LIES TV Series Gets Picked up by ABC

TV James Cameron by Joey Paur

Earlier this week it was announced that James Cameron was adapting his classic 1994 film True Lies for the small screen, and now the new series has found a home at ABC.

ABC tends to put a lot of production value into their shows and I think it's a great place for this new True Lies series to flourish. I think this show has a great deal of potential. I understand that this idea of a husband and wife secret agent thing has been done to death, most recently there's been My Own Worst Enemy and Undercovers. However, I think Cameron and showrunner/producer Rene Echevarria are going to develop something better, unique and more action-packed then the other shows. At least that's what I'm hoping for.

The original film followed Harry Tasker, an everyday man leading a double life as a top-level spy. When he learns that his unknowing wife is unsatisfied with the banality of their life together and, as a result, is planning on having an affair, Tasker accidentally pulls her into his secret battle against Middle Eastern terrorists.

The new TV series is being set up at Lightstorm Entertainment and 20th Century Fox TV. Echevarria (4400, Castle) will also write the series.
