Joe Johnston Talks about how CAPTAIN AMERICA Ties in with the other Marvel Films
In a recent short one question one answer interview with CBM director Joe Johnston revealed how Captain America: The First Avenger will tie in with the other Marvel films.
THE QUESTION: Obviously there has been a concentrated effort to tie the various Marvel films together, whether it be Nick Fury in Iron Man, Tony Stark in the Hulk, or Thor's hammer in Iron Man 2. Will that be the case with Captain America as well?
I think we all pretty much assumed that there was going to be a tie in with the movie Marvel Universe, but here's what Johnston had to say:
There are links between all the MARVEL films, mostly ones that only the fans will pick up on. We have several subtle references to certain elements in THOR, but since CAPTAIN AMERICA is a period picture taking place in the 40's, there are fewer opportunities for contemporary links to the rest of the MARVEL universe. We can, however, create events in our story that will be paid off in AVENGERS and other MARVEL pictures.
So it sounds like there will be a few fun placed easter eggs in the film, but not as many tie-in's as maybe we may have thought there would be, which makes sense for the time period like he said. It's easy to tie in the present day films to Captain America, because the event in Captain America already happened, but now the history and origin of The Avengers is being told.
What do you all think about what Johnston had to say about the Marvel tie-ins?
