As you know director Tim Burton is gearing up to develop his new stop motion feature film Frankenweenie for Disney. The movie is based on his 1984 live-action short film about a boy who brings his dog back to life after getting hit by a car and dying.
It's now being reported that Winona Ryder, Martin Landau, Martin Short and Catherine O'Hara have all been cast in the film, and will lend their voices to the stories characters. Buton has worked with all of these actors at some point in his filmmaking career.
Deadline gives all the details on who is playing who in the film:
Burton has set Winona Ryder to play the role of Elsa, and Martin Landau to provide the voice of Mr. Rzykruski. Ryder starred for Burton in Edward Scissorhands and Beetle Juice. Landau won the Academy Award for his portrayal of Bela Lugosi in Burton's Ed Wood.
Martin Short and Catherine O'Hara take on the voices of five characters each. Short plays Bob, Nassor, Toshiaki, Victor's Dad and Mr. Bergermeister. O'Hara voices Edgar, Weird Girl, Victor's Mom, and Gym Teacher. Short appeared in Burton's Mars Attacks! O'Hara appeared in Burton's Beetle Juice and provided a voice in Tim Burton's A Nightmare Before Christmas.
The script for the feature film was written by John August and disney is planning on releasing the film on March 9th 2012.
I loved the short film and I'm really looking forward to seeing what Burton is going to do for the feature film.
