Natalie Portman Interested in Playing Edgy Snow White

Who better to play an edgy dark and disturbed Snow White than Natalie Portman? She's not officially cast as the character, but according to Pajiba she is most definitely interested in the role.

This is not your grandfather's Snow White. Melisa went back to the 500 year old folk tale and put in some of the things that were missing from Walt Disney's film. His dwarves were miners, and here they are robbers. There is also a dragon that was in the original folk tale. Walt made one of the great movies of all time, but ours is edgy and there is more comedy. The original, made for its time, was soft compared to what we're going to do.

Thankfully Ratner won't be directing the project, according to the report Jean-Pierre Jeunet (Amelie, The City of Lost Children) is considering directing Portman in the movie. If anyone can make a bad-ass Snow White movie worth watching, it's Jeunet! I love this guys films! If he and Portman end up making this movie, it will be something to look forward to seeing.
