Pixar Hires First Female Director to take on BRAVE

Movie BravePixar by Joey Paur

Pixar has officially announced who will direct their new film Brave, which we revealed the logo for earlier this week. The directors name is Brenda Chapman, and she is the first woman to direct a Pixar film! Chapman will also write the CG animated film which was previously titled The Bear and the Bow.

The film centers on a character named Merida, an impetuous, tangle-haired daughter of royalty, who would prefer to make her mark as a great archer. When a clash of wills with her mother compels Merida to make a reckless choice, she unleashes unintended peril on her father's kingdom and her mother's life. Merida struggles with the unpredictable forces of nature, magic and a dark, ancient curse to set things right.

Chapman also directed DreamWorks animated film The Prince of Egypt. The movie is slated to be released on June 15th 2012.
