Ridley Scott Offers up more Details on his ALIEN Prequels

I'm extremely excited for Ridley Scott's upcoming two-part Alien prequel. It's a dream come true for sci-fi geeks to see Scott come back to the classic sci-fi horror franchise that he started. I honestly thought it would never happen, but now here we are, and he's prepping up to shoot it! The two prequels will be shot in 3D back to back.

The movie will take place 30 years before the event's of what happened in the original 1979 film, so don't expect Ripley to show up. In a recent interview with The Independent Scott offered up a few more details about the Alien prequel that he's planning to make. The new story will explore the origins of the classic horrifying aliens. Here's what Scott had to say:

The film will be really tough, really nasty. It's the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?

Scott has talked about the Space Jockey previously being a part of the new films story. This Space Jockey is a part of a mysterious race of giants that carried the alien egg as their cargo. As you know this was a mystery in the original film, now the creature's origins are going to be explored, questions are going to be answered, and it's going to be awesome!

The script for the prequel was written by Jon Spaihts, and it was recently reported that Lost's Damon Lindelof is currently doing a little re-write.

What do you all think about what Scott had to say regarding the Alien prequel?
