Walden Media to Adapt the Young Adult Book Series SIMON BLOOM: GRAVITY KEEPER

Movie by Joey Paur

Walden Media has acquired the screen rights to a young adult book series called Simon Bloom: Gravity Keeper, which they will adapt into a feature film.

The books were written by Michael Reisman, and it will be adapted into script form Adam F. Goldberg who also wrote the films Fanboys and Aliens in the Attic.

I've never read the series, but here's an explanation from Deadline:

The young adult series is about an 11-year old who discovers a hidden magical forest in his New Jersey town. He and a pal happen upon a clearing where the Order of Physics has just met and where Simon is hit in the head by a book. It's filled with scientific formulas the kids learn to wield like magic spells. Joined by a young girl fascinated by their ability to control gravity and friction, the trio battles a mysterious woman tattooed over with scientific formulas, whose goal is to take over the world.

This sounds like it could be fun little film series. What do you all think? Have you read the books?

Here's the description of the book:

Sixth-grader Simon Bloom can’t believe his luck when he finds a book that enables him to control the laws of physics. By simply reciting the formulas it contains, he can cancel gravity to fly around his bedroom, or decrease friction so he can slide down the street as if he were on Rollerblades. When two thugs with evil intentions come after Simon, he must use the formulas to save himself and the book from falling into their hands. This funny, fast, and imaginative novel from first-time author Michael Reisman will appeal to fans of both fantasy and action adventure.
