Saoirse Ronan Joins THE HOBBIT

Saoirse Ronan has joined the cast of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit! At this time Ronan's part is still unknown, but it is listed alongside fellow Irish actors Aidan Turner and James Nesbitt. Here is what casting director Ros Hubbard said to The Irish Film & Television Network:

"[W]orking with Peter Jackson is like working with a family. So they’ll have a great time. Saoirse’s family will go too. Everyone is very close and very loving on those sorts of jobs. It’s not like typical studio movies at all."

Ronan starred in 2007's Atonement, for which she was nominated for a including a Best Supporting Actress Academy Award. She starred in 2009's The Lovely Bones for Jackson.

As we reported earlier, production on The Hobbit has been slightly delayed due to minor medical concerns with Jackson but production is expected to start again soon in New Zealand.

I am really excited to see Hanna with Ronan, Eric Bana and Cate Blanchett this year. She is a great addition to the cast.
