John Goodman To Star Alongside Sandra Bullock & Tom Hanks In EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE

John Goodman is set to join the cast of Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close directed by Stephen Daldry based on the novel by Jonathan Safran Foer.

The Warner Bros./Paramount co-production stars Sandra Bullock and Tom Hanks and is being produced by Scott Rudin. Thomas Horn, a relatively unknown actor has landed the role of one of the main characters Oskar. Eric Roth wrote the script for the film which is looking at a winter start to be released to coincide with the 10th anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center.

The story focues on Oskar(Horn), a 10-year old boy who loses his father (Hanks) in the Sept. 11 attacks and goes on a cathartic journey to deal with his loss. He scours New York for information relating to the lock-box key box left behind by his father and meets an assortment of people along the way -- each dealing with their own forms of grief and loss that connect and parallel his own.

Goodman will play a doorman in Oskar's apartment building who helps him exhume his father's coffin. The actor will next been seen in Kevin Smith's Red State which recently wrapped. He will also appear in HBO's Treme.
