Salma Hayek Is Getting WICKED And Taking ABC To OZ

                           

TV Line reports that Salma Hayek is teaming with ABC to develop an eight-hour miniseries adaptation of Gregory Maquire's best seller Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the West. Hayek also says it would be based on the novel and not the musical that also spawned from the book.  Wicked will be less of a prequel and more of a parallel story to The Wizard of Oz.

ABC Studios and Hayek will produce aloong with her partner Jose Tamez through the duo’s Ventanarosa Productions and the producer/actress might even have a supporting role in Wicked.

Two years ago, former ABC head honcho Steve McPherson passed on Wicked but his successor, former ABC Family boss Paul Lee, resurrected it soon after taking the reins last summer. Cool how things work huh?
