John Cusack and Johnny Knoxville set to star in CARNAVAL

John Cusack and Johnny Knoxville have teamed up to star in a new comedy. THR reports that the actors are set to star in Carnaval, which Josh Stern is directing. The project is being produced and financed by Stone Village, with the companies Scott Steindorff, Dylan Russell and Scott LaStaiti serving as producers. Filming is slated to begin in January.

The script was initially penned by former agent David Styne, and rewritten by Stern. Cusack will play "a sports scout sent to Rio de Janeiro during the over-the-top bacchanalia of Carnaval to recruit the world’s best soccer player with the promise that if he signs the star, he will inherit the agency." Knoxville plays his best friend, a musician who tags along and has an affair with a woman who turns out to be the player’s girlfriend, derailing the signing mission."

I am looking forward to seeing Cusack as Edgar Allan Poe in the thriller The Raven, set for a March 9 release. Knoxville just started shooting Last Man Standing opposite Arnold Schwarzenegger. This reminds me of Blame It On Rio, but that is just because of the common setting. I think that Cusack and Knoxville will play well off one another. What are your thoughts?
