THE DARK TOWER Film gets a Lower Budget but Better Ending

Movie The Dark Tower by Joey Paur

Producer Brian Grazer recently gave an interview in which he expresses that he is confident the long awaited adaptation of Stephen King's The Dark Tower is going to happen. As you know he and director Ron Howard had come up with an incredibly brilliant idea to bring the novel series to life in the form of three movies and two TV seasons. Universal Pictures ended up passing up on the project which meant the filmmakers could start shopping it around to other studios.

They've been working on the film and cutting down the budget so that this thing could get made, in the process they came up with a better ending to the story than they originally had. Here's what Grazer had to say,

We found a way to cut out $45 million out of the budget without changing the scope and actually giving it a good ending. In the $140 million draft, the ending wasn't quite as satisfying. Now, we've got $45 million, $50 million out of the way and a really satisfying ending. It's gonna get made.

What's important about this is the fact that he says they've been able to make these adjustments with changing the epic scope of the film and story. The other thing that is revealed is that he's confident that the movie is going to get made. I've been waiting for the film adaptation to happen for years, hopefully they can find a studio and get it into production soon! Of course it wont happen until Howard is finished with his Formula One film Rush.
