Kerry Washington has officially landed the lead female role in Quentin Tarantino's spaghetti southern Django Unchained. She will end up playing "the long-suffering slave wife of Django (Jamie Foxx). She joins the already awesome cast of actors that also includes Leonardo DiCaprio, Chrsitoph Waltz, Samuel L. Jackson, Don Johnson, Kurt Russell, and maybe Joseph Gordon-Levitt.
The story follows the character Django (Fox), a freed slave, who, under the protection and care of a German bounty hunter (Waltz) becomes a badass bounty hunter himself, and after assisting Waltz in taking down some bad guys for profit, is helped by Waltz in tracking down his slave wife and liberating her from an evil plantation owner (DiCaprio). This film also deals with racism and is handled in a way unlike anything we've ever seen in a film before. According to someone that read the script, "it’s a 100 percent pure popcorn and revenge flick, it is pure genius in the way it takes on the evil slave owning south. Think of what he did with the Nazis in Inglorious and you’ll get a sense of what he’s doing with slave owners and slave overseers in this one."
