Universal Pictures Adapting THE JANSON DIRECTIVE

Another Robert Ludlum book will get a big screen adaptation, Lundlum is the author of the Bourne series and Universal Pictures is set to develop a film based on his novel The Janson Directive. This is one of the last Novels that Ludlum wrote before he passed away.

The story "focuses on Paul Janson, an ex-Navy SEAL and former member of the covert government agency Consular Operations. In the book, he is haunted by memories of the Vietnam War and his mentor and commanding officer, whose sadistic side prompted him to turn Janson over to the enemy to be tortured. Janson escaped and provided the evidence of war crimes that caused his CO’s execution. Years later, Janson is a corporate security consultant who takes a job rescuing an important man, but when the job goes awry, Janson is targeted for a “beyond salvage” termination order. He has no choice but to follow the clues that lead him to a massive scandal."

Sounds like another thrilling intense story. This should make for a great movie, and I wonder who they will get to star in it. Screenwriter John Hlavin has been hired to write the film he was a writer on the TV series The Shield, and also scripted the big screen adaptation of the game Risk for Sony Pictures.

Universal is current developing a fourth Bourne film being directed by Tony Gilroy and will star Jeremy Renner. Other Ludlum novels in the process of being adapted into a film includes another Ludlum bestseller The Parsifal Mosaic being directed by Ron Howard from a script written by David Self. Universal is also developing Ludlum’s The Sigma Protocol. Another film is set up at Summit Entertainment which is an adaptation of Ludlum’s The Osterman Weekend with a script by Simon Kinberg and Jesse Wigutow.

Who would you like to see take on the lead role in this movie?
