REAL STEEL to show on 270 Imax screens!
Imax is hoping for a KO to the box office this weekend with the help of Hugh Jackman. THR reports that Imax Corp. is set to open Real Steel 270 domestic dates starting with the film's release on Friday. The DreamWorks Studios and Walt Disney Studios picture to at least 100 of its super-sized screens internationally, with 62 theaters releasing day-and-date. Imax digitally remastered the film for international screenings, and will announce additional international dates in the weeks to come.
Shawn Levy directed and produced the film abou "next-generation boxing" stars Hugh Jackman, Evangeline Lilly, Dakota Goyo, Anthony Mackie, and Kevin Durand. Venkman had the chance to see the film and here is an excerpt of his review:
Not everyone is going to like this movie, this was made for the general moving going audience and there's not a lot of thinking energy that you have to put in the film. In fact the 1960's Twilight Zone episode Steel from which this film is based was much more sophisticated and thought provoking. The script for this movie was pretty weak. There's stuff in the film that really doesn't make any sense and there are odd hypocritical contradicting moments scattered through the entire film.
I am interested in seeinng this on Friday. What are your thoughts?
