James Gandolfini joins BURT WONDERSTONE - Shortlist of female leads announced

The Sopranos' James Gandolfini has found another project to add to slate. The Film Stage (via Variety) is reporting that he is in talks to join Steve Carrell and Jim Carrey in the comedy Burt Wonderstone. The New Line film centers on a “once-successful Las Vegas magic duo that must reunite to square off against a hot-shot street magician whose tricks are often dangerous.”

Carrell is playing one of the magicians, while Carrey is set to appear as the rival street magician. Don Scardino is making his feature directorial debut. The script was written by Chad Kultgen, and had a rewrite done by John Francis Daley, Jonathan Goldstein (Horrible Bosses), and finally a final polish from Jason Reitman. Gandolfini would play “Doug Munny, a classy billionaire who owns the Aztec Casino, where the title character and his partner perform their show.”

New Line has also announced the shortlist for the female lead in Burt Wonderstone. The list includes: Olivia Wilde, Michelle Monaghan, Judy Greer, Sarah Silverman and Jessica Biel. When a final actress has been chosen, we will let you know.

I love the cast and potential cast, so Burt Wonderstone is primed for big-screen magic. I would like to see any of the actresses in the lead. What are your thoughts?
